List of Sims' Next Top Model episodes

The seventeenth cycle of Sims' Next Top Model (subtitled as Sims' Next Top Model XL) premiered on 30 December, 2020. It cast exclusively for plus-sized and curvy models.

All three permanent judges from the previous cycle – Yachana Vazirani, Maicle Gambardella and Sin Il Hong – remain. Additionally, this season saw the addition of Sims3MovieNetwork's All Stars winner Diane Wings as a mentor for the models.

The winner was Gözde Arslan from Turkey, with Osvany Huerta from the United States via Guatemala as the runner-up.

  • A modelling contract with NU女 Models.
  • A cash prize worth € 100,000.

Twists[edit | edit source]

  • Split premiere: This season, the cast was divided into two batches competing separately their first week.
  • Top Model of the Week: After each episode has been uploaded, a poll is posted accompanying the photo shoot where the viewers vote for who did the best. The winner then receives immunity for the next week. This is different from previous seasons where the photo shoot would be uploaded ahead of the episode, and the winner would receive immunity for the week the photo was taken.
  • Shoot-out: Each week, the worst performing girls get a second chance to prove themselves in the following week. The model(s) who perform worse out of the nominated contestants gets eliminated no matter how well they do in comparison to the safe models. In the finale, the top four were divided into two shoot-outs to determine the top two.

Casting[edit | edit source]

The casting call was opened on 7 May 2018, and closed on 29 September 2018 in conjunction with the Cycle 16 finale. Twenty-four girls made it to the semi-final round, and had a K-Pop inspired group shoot to determine the 14 finalists.

Half the cast are thrown into their first challenge for ASOS, and Olivia and Osvany get in a conflict over their inability to cooperate. At the photo shoot, the girls embody rich holidaymakers on a yacht, but one girl struggles with indigestion. As Yachana is about to reveal the eliminated girl, the episode ends in a cliffhanger.

The other half of the cast shoot Maybelline tests shots. Olivia X. worries the rest of the girls with her constant napping. At the house, drama ensues when one girl overhears the others talking poorly about her. At the photo shoot, the girls have to sell swimwear in the cold water.

The 14 finalists meet for the first time, but the two batches struggle intertwining. Hrönn reveals a secret that some of the other girls react strongly to. The models shoot mock covers for the local magazine Gynaika (Γυναικα), and afterwards two girls are eliminated. The remaining girls shoot for Prada.

The top 10 receives makeovers, and although most girls are content with their changes, Amie Elle feels her new straight perm hair rids her of her ethnicity. The girls have a casting with Ashley Brokaw to book a runway show. At the photo shoot, the girls model as statues come to life.

Yachana surprises the girls with a vacation to Greenland, but their small apartment in Nuuk causes tension. At the challenge, the girls film social media clips about climate change and sustainability. At the apartment, Beauty loses her cool and relieves her frustration by throwing plates on the ground. At the photo shoot, the girls pair up with the cast of Sims' Next Top Male Model Nordic Edition, and pose as cunning secret agents. A surprise double elimination shakes the girls.

Beauty steals and reads Osvany's diary which triggers anger and violence. The girls write styling articles for Vogue Greece, and while Nneka struggles with her spelling and Hwa Young copying her, Olivia spends the allotted time asleep. The girls shoot mock campaigns for Maybelline and ASOS.

The remaining girls travel to Zürich and go on go-sees, but are surprised by the rude treatment by some clients. Olivia chugs energy drinks to keep energetic, but collapses at the house due to an excessive intake of caffeine. The girls have a lingerie shoot inspired by burlesque.

The girls have a digital art shoot. Later, they travel to Genève and shoot a mock campaign for wristwatches. Finally, the final four is revealed.

The girls meet the judges and talk about their strengths and weaknesses. At the house, Nina feels disliked and is hesitant to engage with the others. The girls travel to Cyprus where they meet cycle 16 winner Joyce Boussougou. Later, Gözde has a breakdown after the realisation of being in the finale hits her, but when Nina tries to comfort her she lashes out. The girls shoot a campaign for Maybelline New York and a cover shoot for Vogue Greece. In Athens, a winner is crowned.

  1. ↑ In episode 3, the shoot-out consisted of two rounds. The first round took place outside of panel after the challenge, where Cheryl and Olivia C. lost to Hrönn and Beauty. Erin and Priscilla were nominated for the second round after performing the worst at the challenge. At panel the second round took place. Additionally, after being called out, Yachana told Hwa Young she would have been in the bottom had it not been for winning Top Model of the Week.
  2. ↑ In episode 5, Amie Elle and Hrönn were deemed the worst performers out of everyone and for that reason neither won the shoot-out, sending both home.

  • DJNB and Fontana Svizzera were bluff go-sees for the models to get accustomed to rejection for their sizes.
  • Because she was eliminated before the jobs took place, Nneka was unbooked from the clients she booked, which opened up a slot in both PaLi and Rösti Couture's shows. At the fittings, Osvany was booked by PaLi, and Nina by Rösti Couture.

Future appearances[edit | edit source]

Gözde Arslan, Nina Wiśniewska and Olivia Xu appeared as alumna mentors on cycle 18 in different episodes.

Beauty Bhusan, Nina Wiśniewska, Nneka Ejiofor and Osvany Huerta competed on the first season of All Stars. Beauty placed 9th, Osvany placed 5th, Nneka was the runner-up, and Nina was the winner and the first inductee into the Top Model Hall of Fame.
