List of Sims' Next Top Model episodes

The eighteenth cycle of Sims' Next Top Model premiered on 25 April, 2020. The promotional song was "Polyester" by ANNNA. It cast exclusively for BIPOC models.

This cycle saw the departure of Maicle Gambardella from the judging panel. However, he made several appearances throughout the season as a guest photographer. Meher Sabharwal took his place on the panel, alongside Yachana Vazirani and Sin Il Hong who had both been on the panel since cycle 15.

The winner was Li Meng Yu from China with Taynara Brito from Brazil as the runner-up.

Twists[edit | edit source]

  • Top Model of the Week: After each episode has been uploaded, a poll is posted accompanying the photo shoot where the viewers vote for who did the best. Whereas the viewers simply picked out 2-5 of their favourite photos, this season the viewers have to rank the photos from best to worst. Each girl then receives points based on the viewers' rankings, following a Eurovision Song Contest-style scoring system (12, 10, 8-1 points). The results are revealed in the following episode and the girl with the most points receives immunity at elimination. With immunity granted, she is automatically safe from the bottom three.
  • BIPOC edition: This season, only models considered BIPOC (black, indigenous or people of colour) were eligible to apply, in order to encourage more diversity and representation.
  • Live walk: Every episode at panel, before the judges begin critiquing the models, they have to walk in a mini runway show.
  • Alumna mentors: Each week, the girls are mentored by a different alumna from a previous season.
  • Replacements: After Ivy and Nicole's decision to both quit the competition in episode 1, which Yachana revealed was supposed to be a non-elimination round, two replacements were brought in the following episode: Kim, who was originally eliminated in the semi-finals, and Pooja, whose application was received past the deadline.
  • Comeback: In episode 6, the eliminated girls were brought back and participated in the photo shoot alongside the top five. At the elimination ceremony, the worst performer of the top five was put up against the best performer of the eliminated five, and whoever of the two had proven themselves more earned the last spot in the top five.

As the girls settle into their Lisbon house, Nicole secludes herself, to the others' concern. At their first challenge, the girls have to create their own looks for a flash mob runway show. Afterwards, they have a casting with local designer Inês Gonçalves. At the photo shoot, the girls recreate iconic Vogue covers. At panel, Ivy and Nicole both reveal they aren't in the right headspace for the competition, and choose to quit.

At makeover day, Yachana surprises the girls with replacements Kim and Pooja. Most girls receive minor changes, but Kim and Nyakuoth are unhappy with their new colours. At the photo shoot, the girls shoot in pairs in the Ajuda Botanical Gardens.

The girls shoot a mock campaign for Cubanas shoot, and Reem is flown out to the Azores to shoot a real campaign. At the house, she has a falling out with Kinde, as the latter questions her maturity levels. Later, the girls shoot mock campaigns for Maybelline's Fit Me Foundation.

Yachana announces the girls will be going on international jobs, and half the girls are sent to Iceland, while the other half go to Georgia. In Iceland, there is tension between Reem and the others for her opinions on religion. At both locations, the girls have to put together outfits and take photos of one another for social media posts. At the shoots, the girls shoot for local magazines Glamour Iceland and Beaumonde (ბომონდი), and to their surprise an elimination takes place at both locations.

Reem apologises to the group for her attitude and behaviour, but Meng Yu finds it disingenuous and tries to figure out if she has any underlying motives. Later, the girls meet Nina Wiśniewska who hosts a workshop and challenge about social media, and the girls film YouTube videos. Elyonmi has the best video and she gets to shoot a collab with Nina as well as shoot for her upcoming Top Highlighter of the Week highlighter palette with Morphe. Back at the house, the girls discuss her attitude. At the photo shoot, the girls work with limiting lighting at night.

Kinde brings up the other girls' problems with Elyonmi's attitude at the previous challenge, upsetting Elyonmi. Later, the eliminated girls return as models for the challenge, where the top five have to give them style makeovers and direct them in a lookbook shoot. Afterwards, it is revealed the eliminated girls will get a chance to return. Once all ten girls return to the house, tensions are high between everybody. At the photo shoot, all ten girls shoot in a surrealistic desert landscape. At the elimination ceremony, the episode ends in a cliffhanger as Yachana is about to reveal whether Nyakuoth or Taynara will receive a chance to return.

Taynara is revealed to have performed the best of the eliminees and is put up against Reem. Initially, Yachana announces that Reem has been eliminated, but saves her and announces the top six is going to Tel Aviv. Well there, the girls shoot a campaign for Pandora with Sims' Next Top Male Model alumnus. At the apartment, Pooja and Taynara clash. Later, the girls film a digital runway show for Magazina (מגזינה). Reem confesses her feelings for Pooja, but is harshly rejected. The girls then go to Yafo and have a photo shoot in the street market.

Four months later, the girls return to Lisbon where they shoot an editorial for Vogue Portugal and a campaign for Inês Gonçalves. Later, they are visited by their mothers, and Taynara gets stressed out trying to prove her passion for modelling. Finally, the girls have a photo shoot together with their mothers, before the top 3 finalists are determined.

The finalists meet the past winners who give them advice for their last shoots. The next day, they are blindsided as they find out one girl will be eliminated before the final winner announcement. The top two then shoot for Maybelline and head to Morocco for their final Vogue Portugal cover shoot. Back in Lisbon, a winner is crowned.

  1. ↑ In episode 1, Ivy and Nicole both quit at panel before the call-out. Therefore, Yachana only called out the top three performing girls and the Top Model of the Week winner before deeming the rest of the girls safe.
  2. ↑ In episode 2, the girls were photographed in pairs. At panel, the better performer in each pair was automatically deemed safe during judging.
  3. ↑ In episode 4, the girls were divided into two batches with separate elimination ceremonies.
  4. ↑ In episode 6, the eliminated girls returned for a chance to return to the competition. At the elimination ceremony, the worst performer of the top 5 and the best performer of the eliminated girls were put up against one another. The best of the two would get the last spot in the top five. However, in episode 7 both were saved. Additionally, this episode Meng Yu's immunity was vetoed and she was placed in the bottom two despite winning Top Model of the Week.
  5. ↑ At the first elimination of episode 11, there was no call-out. Instead Yachana only announced that Pooja had been eliminated, and Meng Yu and Taynara advanced by default.
